Phone Calls

Securus Technologies is the phone system used. The website address is https://securustech.online/#/login This link will take you directly to the log in page to create an account. There is also a mobile app you can download to a smart phone. The mobile app is easier to maneuver.

This is also where it gets confusing. After setting up your account, you are going to see a list of services that look like something like this:

None of these other services are available to PA state inmates. The DOC uses other providers for video visits, messaging and funding inmate accounts. All are described if you click the links at the top of the page.

In this program or app it will walk you through the steps to add an institution (PA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS) then an inmate to your account. Then you will need to enter a payment option. As far as we know, you can used prepaid cards to fund your account. That is all you can do, you cannot fund an inmate account through this app. PA state inmates must purchase phone links through commissary.

You can add multiple numbers to your account, but each number must be on the inmates approved phone list for them to be able to call those numbers. For example, if you want to list your and another relatives phone number for the inmate to be able to call - at NO charge to them - add both numbers. When you receive the call to a number on your securus account, the recording will say: "you are receiving a pre-paid collect call." Each 15 minute call costs around $1.00.

If necessary, you can also block numbers directly from your account. You can save your payment information so you don't have to re-enter it every time. You can check your account balance at any time. Phone call times, wait times between calls and number of calls allowed per day vary by institution and sometimes even vary within each institution. This can happen on honor blocks, some are permitted more calls per day and less wait time in between calls. Typical number of calls is 3 per day and 15-30 minutes wait time between calls.

Loved ones on a restricted housing unit "The Hole" are to be permitted one phone call per week. If you are waiting for that call-keep your phone with you always. There is no rhyme or reason to those schedules. Usually they will not get a second chance to attempt that call if they do not reach someone on the first try.

You will get an email notification when your account balance falls below $10.00. Monies you add to your account are posted immediately. There is a minimum $10.00 purchase. The maximum is $500.00. There is NO service charge when you add monies to your pre-paid account. They also have an automatic payment program.
